I make these market bags with 5mm recycled braided cord by Bobbiny. Braided cord is the strongest cord and excellent for making market bags and wine totes.
No worries about the bag tearing or breaking. Since the handle are soft cord, they're easy to hold and carry when full of produce, etc. The bag is approximately 40cm (16") with an additional 36-40 cm shoulder length for the double handle. The bottom is flat and tightly knotted. That grey bag hanging on the coat rack is holding 2kg (4+ lbs) of potatoes so you know it's strong!
My market bags are reusable which is excellent. They also make terrific beach or pool bags. Lots of fun colours to choose from to make a personal statement.
