All About Knotty Cheryl
Hi...I'm Cheryl
Welcome to Knotty Cheryl's online shop.
Decorating has always been a favourite creative outlet for me. Adding colour and texture are easy ways to change decor without starting a major project. Pillows, wall art, lampshades, baskets, etc. created by knotting and weaving are good examples that can be easily changed out.
About me...Knotty Cheryl trivia:
As a child my favourite pastimes were reading and designing clothes for my paper dolls. My favourite books were The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, and anything by Louisa May Alcott.
I loved art. Still do.
I use fibre arts, including macrame, as my creative platform. I love all genres of art…fine art, crafts, writing, photography. My kids say I’m a pretty good cook.
Calling me a "Jack-of-all-trades and a master of none" is probably right on the mark.
Just a few of my past creative pursuits:
- Oil and watercolour painting
- Real estate agent
- Studied handwriting analysis and became a certified graphoanalyst
- Founded a secretarial service and provided administrative support for four Federal US agencies
- Bought and sold antiques and collectibles
- Studied interior design and became an Accredited Home Staging Professional
- Restored and repurposed old rocking horses and other furniture for sale at charity auctions
- Owned a small concessions business blending and selling fresh fruit smoothies at art fairs and festivals
- One Christmas I made, decorated and sold 44 gingerbread houses.
- Faux painting and murals are also wedged in there somewhere.
This is a photo of part of a mural I did in the nursery of my twin grandchildren. I painted it before they were born and we knew there were twins so I put two little eggs in the nest.
I've been a single parent, wife and mom in a blended family, and now a widow. In 2020 I packed up my life in Arizona and moved to England, where my youngest daughter lives.
I’m still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.
